My professional background spans core clinical lab areas such as hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, and virology. We’ve also worked in specialized settings like food plant QA laboratories and have supported laboratory software implementation and integration. These experiences have given us a comprehensive view of the many paths available within the laboratory field.

We want young learners and aspiring professionals to know that the world of lab science goes far beyond the hospital. Exciting career opportunities exist in environmental science, forensic science, biotechnology, research and development, pharmaceutical labs, public health, veterinary diagnostics, and more. Education

My journey into the world of science began early—I started college at a young age. But like many, I faced real-life challenges and wasn’t financially prepared. This made it hard to stay focused, and I eventually made a life-changing decision that would shape my future: I joined the United States Air Force.

Serving in the Air Force gave me the structure, support, and training I needed. I became a Medical Laboratory Technician, gaining hands-on experience in real-world lab environments. After four years of active duty, I returned to college and completed my undergraduate degree in Biology and Chemistry. I now had both practical experience and academic knowledge—a powerful combination that launched a rewarding career in laboratory science.

As laboratory careers continue to evolve, so does the technology behind them. To keep up with the changing demands of the industry, I also studied computer programming and earned a Master of Science in Business. This unique blend of science, technology, and business has allowed me to thrive and stay ahead in the field for many years.
